From James Tufenkian:
An Armenian Kazak weave wool rug in dark red. This Gendge Gul rug was handcrafted in Armenia of 100% wool using our Kazak weave which has a plush pile height of about a third of an inch. Historically Gendge rugs were woven in the town of Gendje and were most often produced as runners with designs resembling Kazaks, except for a more prominent use of light blue and ivory and the frequent use of small, repeating design elements. This rug is an interpretation of the Caucasian rugs and features a rich red wine field adorned in floral and star motifs.
